PLMJ, Garrigues and Baker McKenzie advise on Agrihold land sale

PLMJ, Garrigues, Baker McKenzie, and consulting firm KPMG acted as legal and financial advisors in the purchase, by an international investor, of a 700-hectare agricultural plantation in the Alentejo region of Portugal. The land was owned by the Spanish Agrihold Group. According to media reports, the Iberian group Bolschare Agricultura has leased and will manage the properties, ensuring the continuity of the current project, including the employment of the people who currently work there.

At Garrigues, which has advised Agrihold Group, the operation was led by partner Susana Pimenta de Sousa, with the support of principal associate Pedro Lemos Carvalho. PLMJ, Baker McKenzie, and KPMG, on the other hand, would have advised the buyer whose name was not disclosed.

On PLMJ’s side, the transaction was led by the partner and co-head of real estate, Teresa Madeira Afonso, along with Duarte Schmidt Lino, partner and co-head of corporate M&A, and lawyers Luís Salema and Mafalda Cordeiro (real estate). On Baker’s side, the legal team has been composed of partner Laura Pons and associate Pablo Estrada, both from the corporate M&A practice area.
