Simmons & Simmons expands Spain employment team

Simmons & Simmons has added three lawyers to its employment law team in Spain, bringing the group past ten specialised professionals. Sara Moukayed and Paola Vegazo join as supervising associates, while Blanca de la Peña joins as associate.

Moukayed moves from Freshfields, Vegazo arrives from Pérez-Llorca, and De la Peña joins after beginning her career at Garrigues. The three lawyers will report to Eduardo Peñacoba, managing partner of Simmons & Simmons in Spain and head of the firm’s employment law practice, together with Carmen Torres, partner in the practice.

Practice areas and sector focus

Moukayed brings more than ten years of experience in employment and social securitylaw, while Vegazo has built her career advising companies on the same matters. De la Peña, meanwhile, joins after starting her professional career at a firm active in the Spanish market.

“The three new hires bring experience in day-to-day employment advice, corporate restructurings, collective bargaining, employment litigation and support on corporate transactions, working with both domestic and multinational clients”, states the law firm, that advises companies on labour relations, collective bargaining, restructurings, international mobility, complex litigation, internal investigations and regulatory compliance, with particular focus on clients in life sciences, financial services, energy, technology and telecommunications.

Peñacoba said: “The growth that our employment practice is experiencing leads us to continue expanding the team, especially in areas such as restructurings, collective bargaining and litigation. The international dimension is also particularly relevant, since many of the matters we work on affect different jurisdictions.”
