Kreston Iberaudit launches regulatory law unit
Kreston Iberaudit has set up a specialised regulatory Law practice within its Madrid Legal department, bringing in professionals with a background in financial regulation to advise entities supervised by the CNMV and the Bank of Spain, fintech companies, investment vehicles and firms operating in sectors subject to regulatory oversight.
The unit will be led by David Olivares, partner of the Legal area at Kreston Iberaudit’s Madrid office, who specialises in commercial, corporate, M&A, banking and regulatory law. He will be joined by Juan Antonio López Rodríguez, senior manager with more than thirty years of experience in banking and financial regulation, who will contribute his background in advising supervised entities and projects requiring administrative authorisation.
The initiative forms part of the development of specialised practice areas within the Global Legal Group (GLG) of Kreston Global, co-directed by Pedro Pizá, partner of the Legal area at Kreston Iberaudit’s Madrid office, aimed at strengthening the firm’s capacity to provide coordinated legal advice internationally.
Scope and market rationale
The team will advise entities supervised by the CNMV and the Bank of Spain, asset management firms and investment vehicles, venture capital entities, crowdfunding service providers, payment and electronic money institutions, as well as companies involved in corporate transactions or regulatory authorisation and supervision processes.
The firm points to growing demand for specialised advice from international groups seeking to operate in Spain, investors looking to acquire or develop regulated entities, fund managers, fintech companies and organisations adapting their governance and compliance models to an evolving regulatory framework, driven by digitalisation, new business models and stricter rules such as MiFID II and DORA.
