Ejaso hires Jordi Bermúdez as partner in Barcelona
Ejaso has added Jordi Bermúdez to its Barcelona office as a partner in the corporate and financial regulatory practice. Bermúdez joins from RocaJunyent, where he served as counsel and specialised in commercial law and financial regulation.
His arrival “strengthens the firm’s advisory capabilities for entities subject to financial regulation, an area in which Bermúdez has built a significant part of his career”, states the law firm. He has advised national and international companies as well as regulated entities, including closed-ended collective investment management companies (SGEIC) and their managed vehicles, such as venture capital funds (FCR), European social entrepreneurship funds (FESE), European venture capital funds (FCRE), closed-ended collective investment companies (SICC) and closed-ended collective investment funds (FICC), together with investment services firms such as securities companies, securities agencies and financial advisory firms.
Throughout his career, Bermúdez has taken part in the incorporation, structuring and operation of closed-ended collective investment vehicles, including venture capital companies and funds, and has advised on projects linked to the fintech ecosystem and new financing models, such as payment institutions, electronic money institutions and distance lending platforms, as well as on the creation of crowdfunding and crowdlending platforms. He also specialises in sustainable finance, an area of growing relevance for investors, management companies and regulated entities amid the evolving European regulatory framework and the increasing incorporation of sustainability criteria into investment and financing decisions.
Bermúdez also has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, syndicated and bilateral financing transactions, commercial contracting and corporate law. He has additionally performed company secretary functions and currently serves as non-director secretary for several companies, reinforcing a profile focused on recurring corporate and governance advice.
Academic background
Bermúdez combines his professional activity with teaching and public speaking engagements. He lectures on the Master’s in Corporate Finance at the Barcelona Finance School (BFS) and on the dual degree in Law and Business Administration at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where he currently teaches the Contracts course, having previously taught Financial Markets Law and Introduction to Private and Business Law. He is also a regular speaker at events linked to the financial and fintech sector organised by institutions including the Spanish Fintech and Insurtech Association (AEFI) and the Barcelona Centre Financer Europeu (BCFE).
The hire comes as Ejaso expands its presence in Barcelona and follows the recent integration into the firm of the DS Avocats team in Spain (click to read), an operation that has reinforced the firm’s presence and capabilities in the Catalan market.
