CGPJ suspends legal proceedings in Spain

CGPJ (Spain General Council of the Judiciary) has suspended legal proceedings throughout the national territory, guaranteeing essential services

This decision has been taken, in an extraordinary session, by the CGPJ Permanent Commission, in view of the measures contained in the Royal Decree declaring the state of alarm in relation to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

According to the press release, the essential services of the Administration of Justice are guaranteed in coordination with the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Public Prosecutor.

The Commission had previously agreed these measures for the Basque Country, the Community of Madrid and the judicial districts of Haro (La Rioja) and Igualada (Barcelona), in view of the provisions adopted there by health authorities, such as the declaration of a health emergency in the Basque Country or the confinement in the municipality of Barcelona.
