Abreu announces ESG services area
Abreu Advogados has announced a new integrated service for the development and implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance practices
Abreu Advogados has presented a new service to the market, dedicated to the analysis and implementation of practices related to ESG. Combining experience in monitoring sustainability issues and in response to the growing market need to respond to today’s global challenges, this latest offering is led by three partners, José Eduardo Martins (pictured left) (Environment), Pedro Pais de Almeida (pictured centre) (Social), and Alexandra Courela (pictured right) (Governance). The three partners will coordinate a multidisciplinary team that includes lawyers and consultants with experience in Sustainable Finance, M&A, Labor Law, Environmental Law, Litigation, and European Union Law, among other areas.
José Eduardo Martins, partner at Abreu Advogados said: “Our ESG service was developed to respond assertively to the inevitable path that organisations will have to travel in order to keep up with the rapid transition of the economy underway in Europe, which brings different challenges especially for companies, climate and environmental issues, areas whose legislation has been undergoing constant adaptations and revisions that place a strong pressure on public and private organisations to monitor and implement the new European and national measures.”

The ESG service is one of Abreu’s bets for 2021, aligning its strategic policy for advising on issues that in recent years have become central to transnational government policies.
