Uría advises CATL on its joint venture with Stellantis

Uría Menéndez advised Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited in its joint venture with Stellantis to build a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery gigafactory in Zaragoza.

With a projected investment of up to €4.1 billion, this gigafactory is expected to reach a maximum capacity of 50GWh, with production scheduled to start up by the end of 2026.

This ambitious project, which has the support of the Government, reinforces Stellantis’ commitment to innovation and sustainability in the automotive industry in Spain and will represent one of the most important investments made by a Chinese company in the West in recent years.

The firm team was led by partner Antonio Sánchez Cerbán and counsel Yushi Zhou.
