Toda & Nel-lo reinforces Commercial and International Business areas

Toda & Nel-lo has reinforced its Commercial and International Business with the hiring of José María Beneyto as senior advisor

Following its objective of growth and consolidation as a reference firm in the Spanish legal market, Toda & Nel-lo has hired lawyer and professor José María Beneyto as senior advisor to contribute to the development of the firm’s Commercial Law and International Business area.

José María Beneyto (pictured left), who is also the founder of the law firm JM Beneyto & Asociados, is currently specialised in Arbitration, European Union Law and International Law.

He has more than 30 years of experience at various international firms including the US Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York and Brussels and as a partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo in Madrid and Brussels. His CV includes being director of the Royal Institute of European Studies at the Universidad San Pablo CEU, president of the Instituto Gobernanza y Sociedad, and visiting professor at Harvard University. He was also a member of the Congress and vice president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 2011 to 2016. In addition, he has advised on more than one hundred Corporate operations, many of them involving IBEX companies or multinationals referenced in similar foreign indexes.

Beneyto studied Law, Economics, Philosophy and History at the Universities of Navarra, Bonn, Münster (Germany), and Harvard (USA). He holds a degree in Law with an extraordinary award and a Master of Laws from Harvard University. He holds a PhD in Law and in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Münster, obtaining the qualifications of magna cum laude and summa cum laude respectively.

José María Beneyto joins Toda & Nel-lo to strengthen the Mergers & Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Commercial operations, especially from the Madrid office, as well as to promote international practice. In the image, Beneyto is with Jacobo Ollero (pictured left), partner of the firm.
