Spear Legal names Tiago Sousa Freitas partner
Spear Legal, a boutique firm focused on tax law and tax litigation, has appointmented Tiago Sousa Freitas as partner. The lawyer, who is originally from Madeira, has built his career in tax litigation and joins from Pares.
Throughout his career, Sousa Freitas has represented companies, investors and private clients on complex tax matters, handling proceedings before the Portuguese Tax Authority, national courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union. He previously worked at Deloitte Legal and at Leite de Campos, Soutelinho & Associados, gaining experience across sectors including beverages, healthcare, automotive, real estate, information technology, civil explosives, financial services and private equity funds.
He holds a postgraduate degree in Taxation from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and completed an Executive Program in International Tax Law for Brazil, Portugal & Angola at Leiden University. He obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.
