Sérvulo advises Sensei on largest autonomous store launch
Sérvulo has advised Sensei in the recent opening of the world’s largest smart store, in Leiria, Portugal. Created in 2017, Sensei, a start-up at the time, has developed innovative technology that allows retailers, through a sophisticated system of cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms, to transform their physical stores into autonomous spaces. It means that customers don’t need to scan product barcodes or wait in queues at cash registers, and see their shopping experience made easier.
Sensei was a pioneer in opening fully autonomous stores in Europe and Brazil and today has a team of around 70 people. Sérvulo has accompanied Sensei since the beginning of its project in all its core technology areas and regularly advises the company on means of payment, labour and corporate issues.
Led by partner Ana Rita Paínho, Sérvulo & Associados’ TMT team also counted with counsel and principal associates Ana Mira Cordeiro and Inês de Sá (all three pictured) and covered the contractual negotiation with the Sonae Group and all matters related to artificial intelligence and data processing.
