Rafael Catalá takes control of Codere´s Legal area

Former Spain´s Ministry of Justice Rafael Catalá has assumed control over the Legal area of Spanish gaming multinational Codere

According to information published in vozpopuli.com, Rafael Catalá is now in charge of the Legal department of Codere, following the departure of one general counsel after the other (three in total) and the increase in litigation, with an shareholders legal battle underway between the US funds controlling the majority of the capital and the company´s founding family.

Rafael Catalá (pictured), former secretary of the company’s Board from 2005 to 2011, was hired by Codere last year as an institutional advisor, but has now moved on to coordinate the company’s Legal area, the same media informed.

The departure of the heads of Codere’s Legal department coincided with the period in which the funds that control the majority of the company’s capital, led by the American company Silverpoint, took over the management of the group. The last one to leave the company was Sebastián Cuenca, following Sagrario Fernández (who became general counsel at Grupo DIA) and David Jiménez (now an independent strategic consultant).
