Pons IP appoints Iván Sempere as deputy director
Pons IP, a global consultancy specializing in industrial and intellectual property, has appointed Iván Sempere as its new deputy general director. The move comes as the firm looks to accelerate the execution of its corporate growth plan and expand its footprint across strategic markets.
Working directly with the firm’s general management, Sempere will take on a strategic role focused on business development, positioning in key markets, commercial management, institutional representation and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams. His appointment is intended to strengthen the execution of Pons IP’s corporate strategy and consolidate the organization’s national and international projection.
Pons IP has a national and international presence in trademarks, a patent team in Spain, and growing capabilities in technology innovation consultancy, artificial intelligence governance, and support for projects linked to emerging and deeptech technologies.
The profile
Sempere brings more than three decades of experience in industrial and intellectual property. He began his career at Spain’s patent and trademark office (OEPM) before co-founding PADIMA, where he served as founding partner and Co-CEO between 1998 and June 2026. He holds a PhD in Commercial Law from the University of Alicante, which later named him an honorary professor following more than a decade of teaching at the university’s law faculty.
Beyond his professional practice, Sempere has held institutional roles including President of European Young Entrepreneurs and President of the FUNDEUN University-Business Foundation.
He has chaired the Design Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and currently sits on its Board of Directors and its planning and programming advisory council. He was recently named a member of the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s (EUIPO) newly created European Design Observatory, reflecting his specialization in global strategies for the protection of industrial design.
He also acts as an EU-appointed expert on cooperation projects and coordinates ASIPI’s strategic design working group, which contributes to the development of design legislation across Latin America. In Spain, he is a board member of the National Association for the Defense of the Trademark (ANDEMA) and regularly lectures at conferences, universities and business schools across Spain, Europe, the United States and Latin America.
