PLMJ signs João Marques Mendes as partner

PLMJ has signed João Marques Mendes, former associate from CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut, to reinforce Energy area as a partner

João Marques Mendes (pictured) joins the Energy area at PLMJ after working in the same department since 2009 at CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut.

João Marques Mendes was distinguished in May as “Rising Star”, by the Top 50 Iberian Lawyer Rising Stars. The ranking awards the most outstanding lawyers under 35 years. Marques Mendes was recognised by his outstanding work within Public Law, Energy and Natural Resources.

The firm release spotlights: «With a large work developed on the legal assistance and support with Dispute Resolution on behalf of public entities, the new PLMJ’s partner will enhance the multidisciplinary team of the society devoted to the Energy area, one of the leading activities of the Portuguese economy towards the future».

Marques Mendes has been developing his work mainly in Public Law and Energy & Natural Resources, providing general legal assistance and support in Dispute Resolution matters to several public and private entities, including assistance to implementation and operation of wind projects, legal assistance and support with Dispute Resolution on behalf of public entities, namely assisting in the writing of regulation and Due Diligence in the Energy sector.

He has a Law degree from the University of Lisbon School of Law.
