PLMJ advises Dixons Carphone on Phone House Portugal sale

PLMJ advised Dixons Carphone on the sale of Phone House Portugal to a group of Portuguese investors.

Dixons Carphone is a multinational in the domestic appliances and telecommunications retail sector that was formed following the merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse Group.

Dixons Carphone was the sole shareholder of Phone House in Portugal, a chain that has around 750 employees and 130 stores.

Abel de Barbosa Mendonça, senior associate in the firm’s cross-border projects team, said: “Dixons Carphone’s departure from Portugal was executed to guarantee the continuity of the business and, as a consequence, the maintenance of jobs. The complexity of the negotiations related, above all, to the constant concern of the parties to give Phone House Portugal the means it needs to develop and grow outside the group.”
