Paxlegal promotes Emellin de Oliveira to non-equity partner

Paxlegal has promoted Emellin de Oliveira, coordinator of the law firm’s Human Rights practice, to non-equity partner, marking a new step in the firm’s strategic development in areas of international mobility and fundamental rights protection.

Emellin de Oliveira has built her career around Immigration Law, Asylum, Nationality, and Fundamental Human Rights. At Paxlegal, she has developed work in international protection, migration regularisation, strategic litigation, domestic and gender-based violence involving foreign victims, discrimination, xenophobia, and the protection of fundamental rights in international mobility contexts.

Her academic and institutional profile is extensive: she has served as a researcher at CEDIS – Nova School of Law, as coordinator and lecturer of the postgraduate programme in Foreigners’ Law and Nationality at Nova School of Law Executive Education, and as co-founder and executive coordinator of the Nova Asylum Policy Lab. She is also a member of the International Migration & International Law Committee of the International Law Association, a national expert in the MoveS network, and a member of the Council of Europe network of lawyers and organisations specialising in support for women victims of violence.

Founding partner Bárbara Pestana described the promotion as the recognition of a career marked by consistency and technical quality, noting that de Oliveira combines strong legal expertise with a human dimension that is essential in the Human Rights field, and that she is “deeply aligned with the firm’s values and vision”.
