Patricio Morenés appointed as new secretary of DIA’s board of directors

The board of directors of Grupo Dia has appointed Patricio Morenés, current general counsel of the company and deputy secretary of the board of directors, as the new secretary of the board of directors. Morenés will continue to form part of the group’s management committee as general counsel and will combine these functions with those of secretary of the board of directors.

Morenés, who already in July 2023, after more than three years as deputy general counsel, assumed the position of general counsel and joined the Group’s management committee, is a lawyer specialized in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate governance.

He holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a master’s degree in Corporate Legal Counsel (LL.M.) from the Instituto de Empresa. He joined Grupo Dia in 2020 as deputy general Counsel after developing his professional career in the world of national and international business law in prestigious firms such as Allen&Overy (currently A&O Shearman), Deloitte or KPMG.

Since his incorporation in 2020, he has participated in most of the strategic operations that the Group has carried out within its turnaround process, including, among the most recent ones, the refinancing of the syndicated debt or the announced counter-split process.
