Nuno da Silva Vieira joins Paxlegal as co-managing partner
Portuguese law firm Paxlegal has added four lawyers to its team. Nuno da Silva Vieira, Rui Ferreira Antunes and Ana Peixoto join the firm as equity partners, while Isa Meireles, a lawyer and university lecturer, joins as senior associate. All four will be based in the firm’s Braga office.
As part of the move, Nuno da Silva Vieira will share management of the firm with existing partner Bárbara Pestana, taking on the role of co-managing partner. Alongside his management duties, he will be responsible for the Digital Economy and Strategic Litigation practice areas. “It is a new phase of my professional life that I intend to embrace with great determination and a sense of responsibility,” he said, adding that “the flexibility, team spirit and ambition to do things differently were the characteristics that most attracted me to this project from the very first minute.”
With this reorganisation, Paxlegal now operates with one senior partner, António Patrício, and two managing partners, Bárbara Pestana and Nuno da Silva Vieira.
Ana Peixoto, partner, will lead the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets practice as well as the AI and Emerging Technologies group, with joint responsibility for litigation matters. Rui Ferreira Antunes, partner, takes charge of the Criminal, Regulatory Offences and Compliance departments. Isa Meireles will join the firm’s working groups covering Consumer Law, Advertising and Arbitration, Civil Litigation, Labour Law, and Civil Liability, Accidents and Compensation.
Founders’ perspective
Founding partners António Patrício and Bárbara Pestana described the new hires as a step in the growth of the firm. “The arrival of Nuno, Rui and Ana as partners, and of Isa as senior associate, confirms the solidity of the path we have taken and marks the start of a new phase for Paxlegal, built on our usual values and culture but reinforced by a strong commitment to innovation and technology,” they said. “When we created Paxlegal five years ago, we wanted to grow with criteria, without losing the human scale, technical rigour and closeness that have always defined us. These additions reflect exactly that approach — adding talent, experience and practice areas that bring depth to the project without diluting its identity.”
