With 25 years of experience in the financial sector, Castelão has worked at ABN Amro Bank (Lisbon), Royal Bank of Scotland (London), Vieir de Almeida (Lisbon), and Allen & Overy / A&O Shearman (London and Luxembourg).
The lawyer has extensive expertise in the legal aspects of financing operations, including bank loans, domestic and international capital markets, green bonds, and others. Throughout his career, Nuno Castelão has participated in numerous complex international financing operations and has overseen the restructuring of many of them, notably the reorganization of bank capital structures, including negotiations with the Bank of England and the Financial Stability Board on reshaping the capital structure and own funds of the Royal Bank of Scotland to meet MREL and TLAC requirements. Nuno Castelão also has notable experience in banking regulation and financial services regulation.
