Messi´s lawyer leaves Cuatrecasas
Cuatrecasas has confirmed that partner Jorge Pecourt, who advised the Argentine football player in his attempt to leave FC. Barcelona, will soon leave the firm
“Cuatrecasas confirms that Jorge Pecourt will soon leave the firm as he has decided to set up his own law firm to continue the work of advising professional sportsmen and women, which he has been doing for over 20 years”, states Cuatrecasas´official communication.
The information was first published on 2playbook.com. According to this media, Cuatrecasas and its partner Jorge Pecourt, who was one of the heads of the Sports Law area and who directly managed the ‘Messi case‘, have agreed to break their relationship. Sources from the firm consulted by 2playbook.com point out that Pecourt “has decided to launch his own law firm to continue the work of advising professional sportsmen and women, which he has been doing for more than 20 years.”
Other sources consulted by the same media, however, indicate that the break is due to the ‘Messi case’, with which the firm lost FC. Barcelona as a client and to the controversy that does not help the discretion with which large law firms prefer to work.
