ME&R nabs PwC T&L Malaga Tax head

Martínez-Echevarría & Rivera has hired Álvaro Villar, former director of the PwC Tax & Legal Malaga office Tax area, as a Tax partner

Álvaro Villar (pictured) has a degree in Law from the Universidad de Deusto a postgraduate technical degree in Finance (Juritecnia, Bilbao), a Master´s degree in Management of Professional Offices (ISDE), and a senior management programme AD-1 (Santelmo Institute). From March 2003 to January 2018 he was the partner head of the Tax and Commercial Area of UHY Fay & Co, leading the practice in areas such as International Taxation, Real Estate Taxation, Large Estates, M&A Taxation, Corporate Taxation and Tax procedures.

He then moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers-PwC Tax & Legal Services (Malaga), where he was the head of the Tax area, where in addition to the matters mentioned above, he worked on Corporate Taxation for medium and large groups, Restructuring, Large Estates and international VAT.

Álvaro has more than 17 years of experience as a Tax lawyer and will lead now the firm´s Tax area as a partner. He also has extensive experience in advising family groups and estate planning, as well as in Transnational Taxation, and is an external expert in the review of procedures for the prevention of money laundering.

With this hiring, the Marbella-based law firm adds its fifteenth partner since the appointment of former Cuidadanos president Albert Rivera in March as executive chairman.
