Martínez-Echevarría appoints Carlos Gutiérrez new partner
Martínez-Echevarría Abogados has bolstered its litigation practice with the addition of Carlos Gutiérrez as a new partner. After serving for 12 years as Director and Head of Corporate Litigation at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Gutiérrez joins the firm’s Madrid office.
In addition to his role in the capital, Gutiérrez will also oversee one of the litigation teams that Martínez-Echevarría Abogados has in Andalusia, specifically in the Costa del Sol region.
With over 25 years of experience in legal advisory services for businesses across various industries, Gutiérrez has extensive expertise in corporate affairs, assisting companies in contract negotiations as well as complex commercial disputes before national and international courts and arbitration tribunals.
He has built a strong practice in energy, construction, mergers and acquisitions, and insolvency proceedings. Before joining Siemens Gamesa, Gutiérrez served as Head of Legal at Grupo P.R.A. S.A. from 2003 to 2012.
A Law graduate from Universidad San Pablo (CEU), he has specialized training in conflict management and is an accredited arbitrator and mediator with institutions such as CIAM, Ciarb, and CEDR. Additionally, he has held advisory roles in prestigious legal organizations, including serving on the academic council of Fundación FIDE, the advisory board of Ciamen, and the arbitration and alternative dispute resolution commission of the ICC until 2024.
Beyond his legal practice, Gutiérrez has an academic background, collaborating as a lecturer at ISDE and the Legal Practice School of Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
His appointment aligns with Martínez-Echevarría Abogados’ ambitious growth strategy. In recent months, the firm has made several high-profile hires, including Jesús Palencia as Of Counsel in the Banking and Finance area; Carlos Gutiérrez as head of transactional banking and finance law; Carlos Herrera to lead the new venture capital practice; and Armando Rozados, who joined from Grupo RocaJunyent Gaona Palacios y Rozados as director of the firm’s Seville office.
