Latham nabs Pedro De Rojas from Linklaters

Longtime Linklaters Restructuring partner Pedro De Rojas joins Latham & Watkins as Finance partner after 20 years at the Magic Circle firm

Latham & Watkins has announced Pedro de Rojas’s addition to its Madrid office as a partner in the firm’s Finance department and Restructuring and Special Situations practice. Highly regarded in his field, De Rojas focuses his practice on advising financial institutions, investors and companies on a wide range of leveraged finance matters, including Corporate Refinancing, Restructurings and Private Equity investments. As a well-known Restructuring lawyer at Linklaters, he has been linked to the Magic Circle law firm in Spain for the last 20 years, making partner in 2004. He started his career at Garrigues, where he spent five years as an associate.

“We are delighted to welcome Pedro to the firm,” said Ignacio Gómez-Sancha, managing partner of Latham & Watkins Madrid office. “His extensive experience and solid reputation in the market broaden the capabilities of our transactional practice in Spain, which is also experiencing rapid growth.”

De Rojas (pictured) has particular expertise in advising creditors, investors and their portfolio companies, as well as distressed debtors and their trustees on a wide range of complex transactional matters, with a focus on cross-border Restructurings.

“Pedro brings strong market connections and an excellent track record of advising on some of the most prominent Restructuring mandates in the Spanish market,” added Fernando Colomina, a partner in Latham Finance practice in Madrid. “His arrival will complement our existing M&A, Private Equity, Capital Markets and Finance capabilities in Spain, and will play an important role in the expansion of our practice both in Spain and in Europe.”

De Rojas will be the latest partner to join Latham & Watkins’ Restructuring and Special Situations practice following the recent announcement that Bruce Bell will join the London office later this year. Other recent partners include Jessica Walker in London, George Klidonas and Suzzanne Uhland in New York and Alexandra Bigot in Paris.

De Rojas holds a degree in Law and a diploma in Business Administration from Universidad CEU San Pablo CEU, before completing an LLM at Tulane University (USA). He has been a practising lawyer since 1994. He was selected by Iberian Lawyer in 2020 as one of the Top 50 Business Law Iberian lawyers.
