King & Wood Mallesons advises GED Capital on structuring of Conexo fund

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) advised GED Capital on the structuring of its Conexo Ventures FCR fund, a new investment vehicle focused on venture capital.

The fund, which has a target size of €40 million, plans to make around 20 investments in start-ups in Spain and Portugal in the digital sector, particularly companies that “use software or artificial intelligence to develop growth”.

Investors in the fund, which finalised its first closing at the end of September with investment commitments of around €20 million, include entrepreneurs, family offices and institutional investors.

The King & Wood Mallesons team advising GED Capital was led by partner Ildefonso Alier (pictured), and included associate Inmaculada Munarriz.

Alier said: “The launch of Conexo by GED Capital is a clear example of the important evolution of the venture capital sector in Spain. In recent years we have witnessed an increase both in the venture funds created and in the number of deals they have carried out in Spain and elsewhere. Undoubtedly, this signifies an important boost to this ecosystem and specially, for entrepreneurs.”
