José Luis Blanco promoted to general counsel and legal director of Iberpay
Iberpay, the Spanish company that manages the national payment system, has promoted José Luis Blanco Perez as Iberpay’s new general counsel and legal director. The collaborator of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation (Institute of Spain) provides specialized legal advice on banking and financial regulation, corporate governance, civil and commercial contracts, with extensive knowledge of banking products and financial instruments.
José Luis Blanco Pérez
Blanco Pérez specializes in providing legal advice on banking and financial regulation, corporate governance, civil and commercial contracts. He also has extensive professional experience in investor protection projects, advertising of banking products and financial instruments and product governance procedures.
He previously held the position of deputy general counsel and is deputy director of the legal department of Sociedad Española de Sistemas de Pago (Iberpay) and associate collaborator of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación (Instituto de España). Previously Blanco was legal advisor to national and foreign financial institutions (Caixabank, J.C Flowers & Co., European Investment Bank (EIB), among others), as well as to the legal services of the Bank of Spain in Madrid. He is the author of articles and doctrinal studies in various specialized legal journals.
Iberpay
Iberpay manages the Spanish retail payment system, a critical and neuralgic interbank infrastructure in the European payment network that connects almost all banks operating in Spain and Andorra to process and settle account payments in euros for their customers, citizens, companies and administrations, within the SEPA area (36 European countries, 4,000 banks and 800 million accounts), mainly: instant transfers, request to pay, transfers and direct debits. It currently has 18 shareholder banks that participate directly in the Spanish retail payment system. Iberpay is regulated and supervised by the Bank of Spain.
