Joana Varela, the new head of legal at Grupo Brisa
Joana Varela has been appointed as the new head of legal at Grupo Brisa, a company specializing in the management of road infrastructure and mobility services in Portugal. Varela, who has been with the group since 2021 and previously served as legal counsel for investment and M&A, will now be responsible for the legal coordination of all national and international operations across the various companies within the organization. “A new challenge at the best company and with a great team”, stated the lawyer on her social media.
Varela holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate degree in commercial law from the Catholic University of Lisbon. She has also completed a Leadership Development course. Her professional career includes experience at law firms PLMJ, CS’Associados, and RRP Advogados, as well as a role at CTT – Correios de Portugal. Additionally, Joana Varela served as chief of staff to the Secretary of State for Innovation, Investment, and Competitiveness in the 19th Constitutional Government of Portugal.
