Íñigo Erlaiz, re-elected managing partner of GA_P
The partners’ board of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (GA_P) has approved the re-election of Íñigo Erlaiz as the firm’s managing partner. Having led the firm since 2022, Erlaiz will continue in this role until 2027.
Erlaiz joined GA_P in 1999 at the age of 23 and was promoted to partner in 2010. Since 2016, he has headed the firm’s corporate and commercial law practice. His appointment as managing partner in 2022 marked a generational shift within the firm, founded by Fernando Pombo and Ignacio Gómez-Acebo.
The board has also confirmed the composition of the firm’s management committee for the 2025-2027 period. In addition to Erlaiz, the committee will include partners Verónica Romaní, Miguel Lamo de Espinosa, Álvaro Mateo, Mafalda Barreto, Francisco Fita, Ignacio del Fraile, and Sofia Martínez-Almeida. Carlos Rueda, who served as managing partner from 2016 to 2022, will continue as senior partner.
Expressing his gratitude, Erlaiz stated:
“I deeply appreciate the trust and support of my colleagues. I am excited to continue leading this project over the next three years, working together to strengthen our position as a leading Iberian law firm and to maintain the firm’s upward trajectory.”
Growth and Strategic Focus
Under Erlaiz’s leadership, Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has surpassed the €100 million revenue mark. The firm’s latest financial results reflect steady growth, with an 8% increase compared to 2023 and a remarkable 30% rise over the past three years. Erlaiz has focused on solidifying the firm’s Iberian presence while gaining international relevance. One of the firm’s recent strategic hires was Rais Amils, who joined as a partner to lead the patents practice in the Barcelona office.
Looking ahead, Erlaiz has outlined four key pillars for his new mandate: positioning, productivity, profitability, and efficiency. He emphasizes that Gómez-Acebo & Pombo aims to reinforce its status not only in Spain but also on the international legal stage.
