Hogan Lovells´ turnover reaches €46.3m in Spain and $2.3bn worldwide

In a complex and exceptional year such as 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hogan Lovells has invoiced globally 2.8 per cent more than in 2019

The Americas accounts for approximately 49 per cent of total turnover, EMEA 45 per cent, and Asia Pacific and Middle East 6 per cent. In terms of global practice areas, Corporate & Finance accounts for approximately 41 per cent of total turnover, LAE (Litigation, Arbitration & Employment) 28 per cent and Global Regulatory & IPMT 31 per cent.

In Spain, Hogan Lovells has maintained its turnover, reaching €46.3 million, and has increased its activity in strategic areas such as Corporate & Finance, experiencing growth of 6 per cent, thanks to its participation in relevant operations such as advising Engineered Stone Group (controlled by the American fund Cranemere) on the acquisition of Acquabella, Grupo F&D and McBath; Alantra on the purchase of a majority stake in Surexport; or Ibercaja on the reorganisation of its bancassurance alliance during Helvetia’s acquisition of Caser.

Hogan Lovells has also strengthened its Litigation & Arbitration and Intellectual Property & Data Protection areas. Specifically, in Litigation & Arbitration it has incorporated Gonzalo Ardila as head of the practice. On the other hand, it has promoted Inmaculada Lorenzo – 35 years old and with a strong international profile – as a partner in the Intellectual Property & Data Protection area.

Hogan Lovells now has 24 partners and more than 100 lawyers in Spain (including its offices in Madrid and Alicante). Lucas Osorio, managing partner of the firm in Madrid, stated: “2020 has been an exceptional year considering not only the extraordinary circumstances derived from the COVID-19 pandemic but also the fact that we have had to manage some relevant structural movements. In this context, we have managed to adapt to this period of change, maintain our turnover and continue to provide excellent service to our customers. The efforts of all our professionals have been simply magnificent, and we face 2021 with great optimism.”
