Fidel Cadena joins Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo as partner
Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo has appointed former Supreme Court prosecutor Fidel Cadena Serrano as partner, strengthening its White-Collar crime and litigation practice.
At Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, he will work alongside former Attorney General Juan Ortiz Úrculo and the firm’s criminal law team, advising on complex criminal litigation, corporate compliance and white-collar crime matters.
The profile
Cadena joins the firm following his retirement as Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office in February 2026, bringing more than 40 years of experience within the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office.
He is best known for his role in the 2019 procés trial, where he was part of the prosecution team before the Spanish Supreme Court. More recently, he was among the prosecutors who opposed the application of Spain’s Amnesty Law to certain offences linked to the Catalan independence process.
Cadena began his prosecutorial career in 1979 and joined the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office in 2007. He was promoted to Supreme Court Prosecutor in 2015 and became head of the Criminal Division in 2021.
