Elzaburu appoints Jesús Gómez Montero as honorary partner

The board of professional partners agreed to appoint Jesús Gómez Montero (pictured) as honorary partner of Elzaburu, in recognition of his professional career in the field of industrial and intellectual property, as well as his close association with the firm for more than twenty-four years.

Back in 1980, Gómez Montero joined the ranks at Legal Advisers of the Industrial Property Registry — now the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) — where he contributed to initiatives such as the 1986 Patent Act, the 1988 Trademark Act, and the 1988 Act on the Legal Protection of Semiconductor Products.

He also took part in working groups within the European Union, the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), contributing to processes such as the Trademark Directive, the Community Trademark Regulation, the reform of the Munich Convention on the European Patent, and the Protocol to the Madrid Agreement.

In 1995, he joined Elzaburu, where he was appointed partner in 1996 and remained active until 2019. His main practice focused on trademarks, managing strategic portfolios for national and international companies, as well as for institutions. Within the firm, he also served as head of the international department.
