Ecija strengthens tax practice with partner hire María Cortizas

Ecija has strengthened its tax practice with the appointment of María Cortizas as partner. She joins the firm with more than 20 years of experience in tax advisory, focusing on the planning and structuring of complex transactions, M&A deals, restructurings, capital markets and financing transactions in both domestic and international contexts.

Throughout her career, she has advised large corporations, financial institutions, private equity and real estate funds, as well as international investors, on a range of strategic transactions.

The profile

María Cortizas joins ECIJA with more than two decades of experience in tax law, advising on complex domestic and cross-border transactions across a range of industries.

Prior to joining ECIJA, she served as a partner at Dentons in Madrid, where she spent more than seven years advising clients on tax matters related to M&A transactions, restructurings, capital markets and financing operations.

Before Dentons, Cortizas built a significant part of her career at Linklaters, where she worked for over 12 years as a tax consultant, advising multinational corporations, financial institutions and investment funds on Spanish and international tax matters.

She began her professional career at KPMG, where she spent more than 11 years and ultimately reached the position of Senior Manager.
