Dentons advises Grupo Amavir on €166m sustainable financing deal

Dentons has advised Grupo Amavir on its €166 million refinancing from a syndicate of banks – including CaixaBank (agent), Banco Sabadell, Banco Santander and Targobank – with Groupe Maisons de Famille as guarantor

The transaction involved the amendment and extension of a previous financing agreement and guarantee signed in 2018, and introduced new elements of sustainable financing, in which Grupo Amavir received favorable terms dependent on meeting its commitments with regard to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Jabier Badiola (pictured left), managing partner for Dentons Spain and head of the Banking and Finance practice in Madrid, led the team on the deal, with support from associate Ana Artola (pictured bottom right) and senior associate Jorge Carmona (pictured top right)

Jabier Badiola commented on the deal, “This deal not only demonstrates Dentons’ ability to advise on complex refinancing and restructuring deals in the Spanish market, but it also showcases our ESG capabilities in supporting clients in the growing area of sustainable finance.”

Grupo Amavir is a leading Spanish elderly care group, which operates 42 seniors’ residences and day centers across the country.
