CMS launches Ibero-American arbitration group
CMS has launched its Ibero-American Arbitration Group, a coordinated practice spanning its European and Latin American offices, designed to handle complex, high-value cross-border disputes. The group is led by José María Rojí, partner at CMS in Spain, and Rodrigo Campero, partner at CMS in Chile.
The evolution of business contracts — increasingly extensive, sophisticated, and governed by international standards — further reinforces arbitration as a suitable forum, given the need for practical experience and thorough analysis of documentary and expert evidence.
Madrid is identified as an increasingly relevant hub for international arbitration between Europe and Latin America, a positioning that underpins the group’s geographic strategy.
Scope of services and sector focus
The team advises at all stages of arbitration proceedings, from the drafting and negotiation of arbitration agreements to the management of domestic and international procedures, appearances before arbitration support courts, and the recognition and enforcement of awards. Team members also act as arbitrators, providing a comprehensive perspective on dispute resolution.
The practice has a defined sectoral focus, with recurring experience in disputes involving energy, infrastructure, construction and engineering, financial and banking services, insurance, telecommunications, technology, healthcare and life sciences, real estate, and tourism.
