Clifford Chance promotes two partners in Spain
Clifford Chance has promoted Leonardo Fernández and Pablo Murcia to partner in Spain, effective 1 May 2026. The appointments form part of a broader global round in which the firm has elevated 28 lawyers to partner across its international offices.
The profiles
Leonardo Fernández joins the partnership from the Structured Finance practice, where he specialises in structured finance and fund finance. He has extensive experience advising financial institutions, alternative lenders, sponsors and investment funds on complex debt transactions, including traditional and synthetic securitisations, asset-backed finance, backleverage financing structures and derivatives across the Spanish and European markets.
Pablo Murcia is promoted within the Corporate Transactions & Advisory practice. He has broad experience in large-scale M&A transactions, both domestic and cross-border, advising industrial corporations and financial investors. He has developed a particular focus on the sports — especially football — and entertainment sectors, having counselled football clubs and investors on complex, high-profile deals. He also has a track record in energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors.
Global promotion round
The two Madrid-based promotions are part of a cohort of 28 new partners appointed globally by Clifford Chance. The full list spans offices in Paris, Düsseldorf, New York, London, Brussels, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Houston, Sydney, Tokyo and Washington DC, covering practice areas including Disputes, Capital Markets, Debt Finance, Private Equity, Real Estate, Tax, Funds & Asset Management, Project Development & Finance, Antitrust & Trade, and Restructuring & Insolvency.
Spain Managing Partner Eduardo García said the promotions recognise the professional track record, technical quality and business development contributions of both lawyers, and reflect the firm’s commitment to talent development.
