Cavaleiro & Associados awards academic excellence in law

On December 12, Cavaleiro & Associados, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University and the AdN Jurista Program, held a ceremony to present academic excellence awards, recognizing the best articles produced by students of this institution. The event was attended by the award winners, Tomás Carvalho Guerra, Inês Ribeiro, and Mafalda Cruz. It was presided over by the director of the Faculty of Law, professor Manuel Fontaine Campos, alongside lawyers Sofia Garriapa, Pedro Seixas, and João Quintela Cavaleiro, who were members of the prize jury.

These awards are part of a collaboration aimed at strengthening ties between academia and the professional legal field. In addition to encouraging research and critical thinking, the award highlights the importance of analyzing contemporary legal issues that have a direct impact on society and the market, states Cavaleiro & Associados.

Tomás Carvalho Guerra received first prize for his research, “Algorithmic Agreements: The Digital Eye Scenario and a Redefinition of Competition Law Boundaries.” Inês Ribeiro received second prize for her work, “Disinheritance in Succession Law and Its Possible Expansion.” Mafalda Cruz received third prize for her article, “Challenges and Opportunities of the New Portuguese Voluntary Carbon Market.”

“Given the themes and the quality demonstrated by all candidates, this reflects the meritorious path that the Faculty of Law at Católica Porto has pursued, particularly with the AdN Jurista Program. It is with profound satisfaction that Cavaleiro & Associados grants these awards”, said João Quintela Cavaleiro, founder partner of the law firm.
