BPV hires Cristina Ayo as litigation partner
BPV Abogados has hired Cristina Ayo as partner in its litigation practice. She joins from Uría Menéndez, where she worked for more than 25 years, lately serving as counsel.
She bgan her career in 2000 in the procedural law area of Uría Menéndez and remained there until her move to BPV. She holds a law degree from the University of Barcelona. Her practice covers pre-litigation and litigation advice in civil and commercial matters, and she has led proceedings before Spanish courts and in domestic and international arbitrations.
Her work centres on three areas. The first is product liability and crisis management, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors. The second is mass litigation and class actions. The third is damages law in complex disputes, including competition infringements, breaches of contract, financial products and construction defects.
She regularly takes part in conferences and seminars in her field, has contributed to postgraduate teaching programmes and has published on product liability and damages law.
Impact on BPV’s litigation practice
The appointment follows other senior additions at BPV. At the end of 2025 the firm hired Fernando Bazán from Deloitte Legal as partner in the labour practice, and he was later named managing partner of the Madrid office. In 2026 it promoted Marta Granados to partner in the tax practice.
“We are bringing in a litigator with a specialisation that few firms can offer in Barcelona. Cristina shares our way of understanding the legal profession: a team that works in a connected way, client relationships built for the long term and a culture that looks after both”, said Guillermo Briones, managing partner of BPV.
