Hidalgo Abogados names Nagore Maeso as manager
Basque firm Hidalgo Abogados y Asesores has appointed Nagore Maeso Ipiña as manager, a newly created position, as it prepares to expand beyond the Basque Country. Maeso was previously head of the firm’s Tax and Accounting Department.
The manager position is executive and supports the firm’s management directly, states the firm. Maeso will carry out the plans and objectives set by management, run the organization day to day, coordinate teams, monitor progress against objectives and represent the firm in certain settings. Founder and managing partner Fernando Hidalgo retains responsibility for management, strategic planning and the firm’s direction.
Following the appointment, the firm has also reorganized the leadership of the Tax and Accounting Department, which will now be run by Borja Sarasqueta.
Internal promotion
Maeso is an economist registered with the Basque Association of Economists and holds a degree in Business Management from the UPV/EHU. She has spent her entire career at Hidalgo Abogados y Asesores, where she led the Tax and Accounting Department, with a team spread across several offices.
Hidalgo explained the reasoning behind the new role: “We have gone from being a firm to being an organization of eighty people in eight offices, and that demands professionalizing management. There are matters that need a dedication that management cannot always give, and that is why we created the manager role.” He added: “That someone who has grown within the project fills it says a lot about the company we want to be.”
Founded in Eibar in 2008, Hidalgo Abogados y Asesores has eight offices in Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia and Álava, in Bergara, Bilbao, Donostia/San Sebastián, Eibar, Elgoibar, Oñati and Vitoria-Gasteiz. It has 80 professionals. Its expansion plan outside the Basque Country includes the integration of other law firms and advisory practices, as well as the continued hiring of new professionals.
