Baker advises ORPEA on its acquisition of seven facilities from Sanitas

Baker McKenzie has advised France´s ORPEA on the acquisition of two open facilities and five projects from Sanitas

ORPEA has acquired from Sanitas the activity of two existing nursing homes, one in Madrid (Ferraz) and one in Santander. It has also taken over Sanitas’ position in an existing centre, currently closed, located in Madrid (Puerta de Hierro), and in four ongoing projects – three of them under construction – located in Madrid (Coslada), Barcelona (Manresa), San Sebastián and Logroño. The project envisages the management of seven new residences, as new centres are planned to be built on the land acquired.

ORPEA thus acquires ownership of the projects located in Barcelona (Manresa) and San Sebastian, in addition to the operation of the rest through long-term leasing contracts. The seven assets will have a capacity for 838 beds, in addition to the more than 8,200 beds that are currently providing services and the 960 day centre places available in its 47 residences, currently in operation throughout the country.

Thanks to the nursing homes already planned or under construction, and once these two transactions with Hestia Alliance and Sanitas are completed, ORPEA will be present in the Spanish market in its three complementary business segments, operating 87 facilities representing 14,300 beds.

This deal adds up to OPEA´s acquisition of Hestia Alliance (Bimpedi SL), as announced by Iberian Lawyer.
