Angel Maestro, new counsel of Simmons & Simmons
Simmons & Simmons has announced the addition of Ángel Maestro to its Madrid office as new counsel in the real estate practice. With more than 14 years of experience in the real estate legal sector, Maestro joins from DLA Piper, where he was the legal director of the Real Estate department.
Alfonso Fernández-Puebla, partner and National Practice Group Head of the Corporate & Commercial department of Simmons & Simmons in Spain, celebrates the arrival of the new signing: “The addition of Ángel Maestro to our Real Estate team reinforces our ability to advise on highly complex and high impact real estate transactions. Undoubtedly, his experience in transnational transactions, hotel asset management and advising institutional investors brings a differential value to the firm and fits perfectly with our growth strategy in Spain”. Fernández-Puebla also assures that he is convinced that his arrival “will further strengthen our value proposition in the real estate market and consolidate our position as a benchmark firm in this sector”.
Ángel Maestro
With a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2010, Ángel Maestro has developed an outstanding track record in complex and far-reaching real estate transactions. Before joining DLA Piper in 2021, the new counsel of Simmons & Simmons developed part of his professional career in two leading law firms: Uría Menéndez between 2014 and 2021, and Eversheds, where he started his professional career, between 2010 and 2014. His experience covers transnational transactions with sophisticated investment structures, leasing and construction contracts, as well as asset management with a specific focus on the hotel sector.
An expert in real estate acquisitions through asset deals and share deals, Maestro has also participated in some of the most relevant real estate transactions in recent years in Spain. His knowledge of investment vehicles of all types, including listed companies, makes him a key advisor to international clients – investment funds, financial institutions and institutional investors – as well as to local developers and operators, with a particular focus on logistics and hotel assets.
Regarding his incorporation, Ángel Maestro is enthusiastic and expectant about this new stage: “I am very excited about my arrival at Simmons & Simmons and I believe that, undoubtedly, it is a step forward in my professional career. The firm has a very clear idea of where it wants to go and its strategy is ambitious and very exciting. I am looking forward to this challenge and I hope to play a leading role in the growth of the firm in the Spanish market”.
