Cuatrecasas advises Cementos Progreso on its international expansion
Cuatrecasas has advised Cementos Progreso Holdings and other entities of a consortium of investors in the tax and corporate structuring of the investment in Cemex Dominicana and Transportes San Pedro -through Cemento Dominicana – as well as in the preparation of the partners’ agreement and the financing granted by Banco Popular Dominicano, Banco General, Banco Industrial and Citibank.
Cementos Progreso Holdings, a company specializing in cement, building materials and solutions, thus consolidates its international expansion and its position as a leader and benchmark in the cement industry in Central America and the Caribbean. With this transaction, it culminates its internationalization process, in which Cuatrecasas has had the opportunity to advise it since 2018. This is the largest transaction recorded in the region in recent years: 950 million USD, which provides essential strategic value for Cementos Progreso and for the economy of the Dominican Republic.
The firms team in charge of the advice was composed of lawyers Juan Aguayo, Álvaro Vierna and Paula Martínez, from corporate, Antonio Barba, from tax, and León López, from finance.
