Álvaro Fernández joins GA_P as tax counsel

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has added Álvaro Fernández Domínguez as counsel in its tax team in Madrid. He joins from Freshfields, where he spent the past nine years, most recently as a senior associate. He previously worked at Garrigues, also specialising in tax.

Fernández Domínguez advises on Spanish and international tax matters, with experience spanning corporate tax advice, corporate governance and complex transactions, as well as administrative and judicial tax litigation. At Freshfields, his recent work included advising the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) on the tax aspects of its €1bn acquisition of a 25% stake in FCC Medio Ambiente, as well as advising on withholding tax refund proceedings before the Spanish courts involving dividends received by non-resident investors.
