Afianza Legal acquires Winkels Abogados
Afianza Legal, the legal division of Afianza, has completed the acquisition of Winkels Abogados, a Madrid-based firm specialising in family and succession law — both domestic and international — led by managing partner Isabel Winkels. The move positions Winkels at the head of a new vertical within Afianza Legal dedicated to family matters, succession proceedings, and cross-border disputes.
Along with Isabel Winkels, eight professionals with experience in technically and personally complex cases join Afianza Legal as part of the transaction. The new vertical will cover a broad spectrum of family and succession matters, including divorce, separation and matrimonial nullity, custody modifications, gender-based violence, filiation, voluntary jurisdiction, inheritance and succession, guardianship and curatorship, prenuptial agreements, and matrimonial property regimes.
On the international side, the team brings expertise in cross-border proceedings, international child abduction, international divorce and succession, and immigration matters.
Winkels Abogados will form part of Afianza Legal, which recorded revenues of €21.2 million in 2025 — a 73% increase year-on-year — with a headcount of more than 220 professionals. The parent company, Afianza, reported overall revenues of €83.2 million in 2025 and employs more than 1,100 people across its service lines, which span advisory, consulting, legal services, and audit.
