Addleshaw Goddard advises EDPR on photovoltaic parks sale

Law firm Addleshaw Goddard has advised EDP Renováveis (EDPR) on the negotiation and sale of a photovoltaic portfolio to Tion Renewables, a German energy company backed by investment fund EQT. The €80 million transaction includes four operational solar photovoltaic parks in Spain, with a total capacity of 140 MW, located in Aragón and Andalucía. These facilities are secured by 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The legal team was led by Corporate Partner Roberto Pomares and Senior Associate Enrique Murillo, with contributions from Corporate Associate Álvaro Paniagua, Energy Counsel Alberto Artés, Energy Associate Elena Gonos, and Senior Real Estate Associate Pilar Lorenzo.

Commenting on the transaction, Roberto Pomares stated: “This transaction once again highlights the trust that the Spanish energy sector continues to inspire among international investors.”

This deal marks Tion Renewables’ entry into the Spanish market and aligns with EDPR’s ambitious €6 billion asset rotation program for the 2024-2026 period, announced during the company’s business plan review last May.

The sale underscores the growing interest of international investors in Spain’s renewable energy sector and EDPR’s commitment to maintaining its leadership in the global transition to cleaner energy.
