Abreu counsels BiG on its Spanish branch opening

Abreu Advogados has counselled Banco de Investivmento Global on its expansion in Spain

Abreu Advogados advised the Banco de Investivmento Global (BiG), a Portuguese private bank, on the opening of a branch in Spain, focused on the savings and investment management business.

BiG – Banco de Investimento Global is a specialized financial institution based in Lisbon, authorized to operate in all business areas open to the banking sector in Portugal and with a presence in the African market. Its investment in Spain is the entity’s largest cross-border project since its launch in 1998.

The opening of BiG Spain represents the implementation of an ambitious expansion plan for the Iberian market, its main offer being savings and investment solutions. BiG Spain bases its strategy on a model that favours digital channels and innovation in the provision of financial services.

This operation was carried out under the European passport and involved a wide range of legal services, both regulatory, on banking and investment products, on digital platforms and cybersecurity, data protection, labour, among others.
