Abreu announces 12% revenue growth in 2020

In 2020, Abreu Advogados recorded a turnover of €33.6 Million, a 12 per cent growth from 2019

Abreu Advogados ended 2020 with positive results and a new record revenue, despite the effects of the pandemic crisis on the Portuguese economy. In a particularly difficult year for the market, Abreu has shown a growth in turnover, in the team and in its main practice areas. In 2020, the firm recorded a turnover of €33.6 million, which represents a growth of 12 per cent compared to the previous year.

“2020 was one of the most challenging years of our time. After a period marked by great economic dynamism in 2019, the shock caused by the Covid-19 pandemic was felt in all areas of the economy. In the face of an imminent crisis and great unpredictability, we kept our focus on our Clients acting as a business partner focused on strategic consultancy and sharing information of added value, useful and relevant to dispel uncertainties. The response was positive and we are very satisfied with the result now announced ”, said Duarte de Athayde (pictured), managing partner at Abreu Advogados.

Abreu Advogados operates in nine different markets and advised on a number of significant transactions in 2020. Abreu advised on the process of selling the entire share capital of PT Ventures SGPS, they advised on the acquisition of the motorway concessionaire Brisa, and advised at an international level, through the partner JLA Advogados, on what represents the largest foreign direct investment in Africa and which places Mozambique among the biggest players in Liquefied Natural Gas in the coming decades, the Area 1 project.

“Despite the enormous challenges of the economic recovery, our goal is to be progressively stronger and to have an impact on the markets, sectors and areas that are most important to our Clients”, added Duarte de Athayde.
