Abreu advises Newpal on acquisition of Companhia Portuguesa de Amidos
Abreu Advogados has advised Newpal-Investimentos SGPS on the acquisition of 84% of the share capital of COPAM- Companhia Portuguesa de Amidos, S.A., for approximately €19.2 million.
Founded in 1937, COPAM is the only Portuguese starch industry and the leading company in Portugal in the production and commercialization of starch products for the food, pharmaceutical, paper, corrugated board and chemical industries in general.
Abreu’s multidisciplinary team involved in this transaction was headed by Marta Romano de Castro, partner with the Corporate, Commercial and M&A practice area and Madalena Caldeira, partner with the Employment practice area. Other members of the team included Patrícia Viana, partner from the Real Estate practice area; Patrícia Perestrelo, partner from the Employment practice area; Sónia Gemas Donário, partner from the Competition practice area; Madalena Bernardes Coelho, senior lawyer from the Public & Environment practice area and trainee lawyers André Neves and Benedita Pombo.
