Garrigues marks 20 years in Porto with new office

In 2026, Garrigues celebrates 20 years in Porto, an anniversary that also coincides with the inauguration of a new office in the city, as Iberian Lawyer can anticipate. According to the Spanish law firm, “this double milestone reflects Garrigues’ commitment to northern Portugal and consolidates Porto as a key element in the firm’s positioning in the country”. Garrigues’ Porto office’s growth has increased from representing 10% of total revenue in Portugal eight years ago to nearly 20% today.

Over the past eight years revenue has increased by more than 80%, states Garrigues. In the last financial year (2025), Garrigues’ growth in Portugal was in double digits, the team was strengthened with two new partners.

“The Lisbon and Porto offices are integrated into the firm’s global structure and work in coordination with the rest of Garrigues’ teams, not only in Spain but across its international network (32 offices in 12 countries across four continents). This enables the firm to provide advice on local, regional and cross-border transactions, delivering a unique client experience across all its offices”, states the law firm.

“The development of our activity in Porto in recent years reflects the growing importance of northern Portugal as a business hub and our ability to support that dynamism with increasingly specialised and close advisory services”, states João Miranda de Sousa, partner responsible for Garrigues in Portugal.
