Monereo Meyer hires Maite Parejo as partner

Monereo Meyer Abogados has appointed Maite Parejo as partner to head its White-Collar Crime practice, strengthening the firm’s offering in corporate criminal litigation, complex economic crime investigations, and compliance programmes — including human rights and environmental due diligence.

The profile

Parejo brings extensive experience in high-complexity criminal proceedings before the Audiencia Nacional, the Tribunal Supremo, and the Tribunal Constitucional, acting both for the defence and the prosecution. Her career spans matters involving international corruption and economic crime, combined with a recognised specialisation in Human Rights and International Criminal Law.

On the institutional and academic front, Parejo currently serves as co-president of the Human Rights Observatory of the Ilustre Colegio de la Abogacía de Madrid and sits on the Steering Committee of the II National Human Rights Plan.

She holds a doctorate in Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and is a professor at the Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR). She completed her law degree at the Universidad de Sevilla and subsequently pursued further training at the Universities of Cambridge and Anglia Polytechnic University, as well as at the Alliance Française in Cambridge, UK. She also holds the Diploma de Estudios Avanzados from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Her working languages are Spanish, English, and French.
