Ceca Magán hires María Jesús Román as partner to lead AV practice
Ceca Magán Abogados has brought in María Jesús Román, founding partner of MRG Abogados, as a partner in its Madrid office, along with her team, to establish and head a new Audiovisual and Cultural Law practice area.
The newly created Audiovisual and Cultural Law area will provide comprehensive legal services to producers, platforms, artists, creators and companies operating in the entertainment sector, both domestically and internationally. According to the law firm, the practice will cover a broad range of disciplines, including contracts, intellectual property, financing, tax, corporate transactions, employment, litigation and regulatory matters — reflecting the increasingly complex legal structures required in the digital content and intangible-asset space.
Background and team
María Jesús Román joins from MRG Abogados, the firm she co-founded, where she built a track record advising production companies, platforms and talent on high-profile audiovisual and cultural projects. She joins Ceca Magán together with her team, bringing with her an established client base.
Esteban Ceca, managing partner of Ceca Magán Abogados, commented: “The audiovisual and cultural sector requires structures capable of offering comprehensive, highly specialised and coordinated advice across all legal areas that impact the business. This move places Ceca Magán in a particularly solid and competitive position in the audiovisual and cultural space.”
María Jesús Román stated: “MRG has been a project built with enormous dedication, ambition and commitment to our clients and to the sector, and beginning this new chapter alongside Ceca Magán represents an extraordinary opportunity for growth for the whole team and to offer a more comprehensive service to our clients. The combination of our track record with the scale, capabilities and vision of Ceca Magán places us in a particularly strong position in the market.”
Emilio Gude, litigation and arbitration partner, added: “María is an outstanding professional, with a widely recognised track record and positioning in the audiovisual and cultural sector, and her arrival is a very significant step in continuing to consolidate our specialisation in high-value industries.”
