Elzaburu: €28M in revenue in 2025, legal on the rise

Elzaburu recorded revenues of €28 million in 2025, up 3% year-on-year, with particularly strong performance in its legal practice. Europe accounted for 80.3% of turnover, followed by the Americas (10.8%) and the rest of the world (8.9%).

Spanish companies represent 46% of the firm’s client base, including 40% of IBEX 35 companies. Elzaburu currently manages a portfolio of more than 60,000 trademarks and has handled over 1,600 litigation cases throughout its history.

By practice area, Trademarks grew by 2%, Patents by 5%, and Legal by 18%, representing 42.5%, 38.7% and 18.8% of total revenues, respectively. Media & Entertainment stood out, with more than 860 audiovisual and performing arts projects handled—up 169% year-on-year—and €18.2 million in tax investment mobilised for cultural projects, a 73% increase.

Elzaburu employs over 150 professionals, including 44 lawyers and a broad range of IP specialists. Women account for 30% of partners and 57% of management positions in the corporate area, and represent 74% of the workforce. The average age is 45, with an average tenure of 16 years.

According to Alfonso Diez de Rivera Elzaburu, chairman of the firm, 2025—marking its 160th anniversary—saw the consolidation of its Trademarks and Patents practices, alongside notable growth in Legal and a very significant advance in Media & Entertainment. Managing partner Mabel Klimt highlighted the firm’s ability to adapt in a year marked by the rapid expansion of AI, combining innovation, multidisciplinary talent and a deep understanding of clients’ needs in the management of intangible assets.
