Uría Menéndez advises Helvetia on €800m Caser acquisition
Uría Menéndez has advised globally active Swiss insurance group Helvetia on the acquisition of a 70% stake in Spanish insurer Caser for over €800 million
This deal, which was announced on 24 January and closed on 25 June, recently obtained the corresponding authorisations from the EU and Spanish authorities needed for completion, Helvetia Schweizerische Versicherungs Gesellschaft AG bought around 70% of the share capital and voting rights of the Spanish insurer Caser for over €800 million.
According to the firm, this acquisition strengthens Helvetia’s European business as a second pillar, significantly expanding Helvetia’s attractive non-life business and increasing its distribution capabilities in Spain.
Uria Menéndez´s team involved in this deal was led by Commercial partner Guillermo San Pedro (pictured) and included M&A and Insurance senior associate Jaime del Fraile, associate Carmen Santo and Tax counsel Miguel Bastida.
